Cummins Launches 450-hp ISX12 Ratings for Linehaul and Regional-Haul Truck Markets.

Cummins offers the 450-hp ISX12 for the linehaul and regional truck sectors.
Since the L10 and M11 in the 1980s, Cummins has been a pioneer in the development of smaller heavy-duty engines, also referred to as medium-bore engines, ranging in size from 10- to 13 liters.
Two 450-hp ISX12 ratings are now available from Cummins Inc. for the linehaul and regional-haul truck markets.
The ISX12 has excelled in a range of trucking applications since its release in 2010, including regional haul, bulk haul, trash, and mixer. This flexible engine continues to please customers who demand more from their medium-bore engines thanks to its unmatched Power Take-Off (PTO) capabilities. Cummins has continuously improved the ISX12 over the years to meet customer performance expectations as well as to offer competitive fuel efficiency and superior overall productivity.
The ISX12 has been a dependable device for many customers in North America ever since its release. Williams Tank Lines is a business that mostly uses ISX12-powered vehicles to transport petroleum products. Mike Williams, the president, said: "The medium-bore ISX12 is more reliable, consistent, and needs far less maintenance. Some of our cars have been driven for close to a million miles without being refurbished."
For linehaul and regional haul trucks, Cummins is happy to announce the availability of two 450-horsepower ISX12 ratings: 450 hp with 1650 lb-ft of torque and 450 hp with 1450/1650 lb-ft of torque. These evaluations are the result of Cummins' six years of working with companies like Williams Tank Lines. When compared to 15-liter and 13-liter engines, the 450 horsepower and 1650 lb-ft of torque give performance that is comparable, but at a substantially lower weight, resulting in a better payload capacity. For applications like tanks and bulk haulers that return with a modest or empty load but move huge items on the way out, the 450-hp 1450/1650 lb-ft SmartTorque rating is ideal.
To provide the right amount of torque for the task at hand, torque production is controlled using SmartTorque technology.
Cummins is still working on updated ratings for vocational trucks in order to offer even higher productivity than its current leadership position in ISX12-powered cement mixers, garbage trucks, and vacuum trucks. These updated ratings for regional haul trucks are not the only ones Cummins is currently developing.
