International ProStar Enters Production With MaxxForce 13-Liter SCR Engine

International ProStar Introduces the MaxxForce 13-Liter SCR Engine for Production
"This marks yet another significant turning point in our operating plan and further illustrates our dedication to delivering value for our customers," said Jack Allen, president of Navistar North America Truck and Parts. "We put the requirements of our consumers first in everything we do, and this technology was developed with that in mind.
One of the lightest 13-liter engines in the market thanks to its design and compacted graphite iron (CGI) block construction, it offers fleets and drivers the effective power of a big bore engine with lighter components to boost payload. There are variations with 1,250 to 1,700 lb-ft of torque and 365 to 475 horsepower and provides exceptional performance and fuel efficiency.
In addition to the tried-and-true Cummins Emission Solutions after-treatment system, the MaxxForce 13 features a number of enhancements to the turbochargers, EGR valves, high and low temperature coolers, and exhaust bellows. The engine's overall power and throttle responsiveness will be improved, and the electronic control module's calibration to the SCR system will result in better fuel efficiency.
More than 70,000 vehicles equipped with the MaxxForce 13 and ProStar combination are on the road today, demonstrating its robustness. During the introduction of SCR, the vehicles underwent thorough testing and validation, traveling almost six million kilometers over a range of climes, altitudes, and circumstances.
The marriage of our SCR-based MaxxForce 13 and the best-performing Class 8 tractor on the market enhances our portfolio, Allen continued. Offering drivers and fleets a broad range of SCR-based engine solutions is one of the ways we ensure that our customers receive a full portfolio of dependable, high-quality goods they can drive with confidence.
The first ProStar equipped with a Cummins ISX15 with SCR has been operational for four months. Despite strict quality testing requirements and a constrained time frame, the Cummins ISX15 fulfilled all crucial rollout dates earlier than expected. More than a thousand ProStars with ISX15 had been delivered as of this writing. Its increased power characteristics, quiet ride, and outstanding fuel economy have been hailed by numerous fleets in their early customer response, which has been overwhelmingly positive.
