ISX12 Heavy-Duty Engine

ISX12 Heavy-Duty Engine
Cummins Inc.'s ISX12 Heavy-Duty engine, which offers considerable fuel economy advantages for regional haul, vocational, and specialty applications, has just been released. Building on the strength and performance of its predecessor, the ISX11.9, the ISX12 boosts fuel economy by up to 5% in regional haul applications and up to 12% in vocational applications.
The ISX12 outperforms the previous generation in this power range and provides superior product qualities through improved calibrations. According to Jeff Jones, Vice President Of Sales and Market Communications, Cummins is excited about the opportunity to offer consumers this improvement of our 12-liter product. We are able to release the ISX12 because of continual product improvements, said Jones, in order to better meet the needs of our clients and provide the value that only Cummins products can bring to their operations.
The tiny ISX12 will provide superior performance, dependability, and fuel economy that have been demonstrated in the many applications for which it is most appropriate. The ISX12 is designed to work in strenuous duty cycles, including those for garbage and mixer trucks and other types of work trucks. Better pulling capacity, superb driveability, and strong clutch engagement torque are all features of this vehicle. For motorcoaches, recreational vehicles, fire and emergency vehicles, as well as Class 8 trucks used for regional haul and day cab operations, complete ranges of horsepower and torque ratings are also available.
A single VGT(TM) Turbocharger, the proprietary XPI fuel system, and an upgraded cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system are among the shared components of the Cummins ISX15 and Cummins ISX12, the leading big-bore engine in the industry. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Cummins Aftertreatment System is utilized by the ISX12, as well as the whole lineup of on-highway Heavy-Duty and MidRange engines.
The ISX12 has a broad power range that is ideal for meeting the needs of local haulage and LTL distribution organizations, with conventional ratings from 310 horsepower to 425 horsepower (231-317 kW) and SmartTorque ratings from 330 horsepower to 425 horsepower (246-317 kW). Due to the additional torque that the two top ratios of the SmartTorque ratings unleash, drivers may climb steep hills with fewer downshifts. The ISX12 offers an excellent power-to-weight ratio and 800 lb-ft (1085 N•m) of clutch engagement torque, making it a great choice for professional applications. Eight vocational and five refuse ratings are available, in addition to integrated rear engine power take-off (REPTO), front engine power take-off (FEPTO), and a variety of hydraulic drives.
