Mack adds more efficient MP8 and aerodynamic options for Anthem tractor

Mack enhances the MP8 and provides more aerodynamic options for the tractor Anthem
Mack Trucks said that its Mack HE+ package and a 13-liter engine with exceptional efficiency would be available as options for its Mack Anthem vehicles.
According to Roy Horton, director of product planning at Mack Trucks, Anthems with the MP8HE engine and HE+ package can save up to 9.5 percent on fuel when compared to base MP8-equipped Anthem vehicles. Additionally, the combination has earned U.S. certification by SmartWay. Environmental Protection Agency
The "Mack Energy Recovery Technology" used by the 13-liter Mack MP8HE engine converts wasted mechanical energy from the engine's exhaust system into extra torque that is supplied back to the engine crankshaft.
"Mack's Energy Recovery Technology allows the engine to run at lower RPM [with] less stress on components," claims Roy Horton, director of product planning at Mack Trucks, "helping to boost longevity and reliability as well as fuel efficiency."
The Mack MP8HE is mDrive automatic manual transmission-paired, enabling a lower and slower cruise RPM to take advantage of the extra torque provided by waste energy recovery.
The HE+ package also includes enhancements to the aerodynamics of the vehicle, including a roof fairing with trim tab, side fairings with extensions, chassis fairings with ground effects, and an aero bumper with spoiler. Additionally, it has Mack Predictive Cruise, a complex system that memorizes a route and can store up to 4,500 hills in its memory when cruise control is on. The next time a motorist travels the same route, Mack Predictive Cruise will start using the best shift method for maximum fuel economy.
