The Econodyne engine for on-highway customers is the MP8 Econodyne+ engine from Mack Trucks. The 13-liter engine is rated at 1,860 ft-lb and 505 HP. Torque is offered in Pinnacle models.
Utilizing the company's EconoBoost torque control system, the MP8 Econodyne+ engine provides an additional 200 ft-lb of torque. at lower torque engine speeds. When climbing a high incline, the engine's RPM drops to close to its maximum torque output, allowing the vehicle to stay in top gear for a longer period of time until the hill is crested.
